The visit

What the visit looks like.

  1. Twigs and nesting material piled on a chimney smoke shelf under torchlight
    1

    Animals out, safely

Nests and animals come out of the flue safely, within what the law allows.

  2. Loose black soot fallen onto the hearth in front of a fireplace opening
    2

    Flue cleared

Nesting material and debris come out, so the flue draws again.

  3. Stainless steel chimney cap with mesh screen being fitted onto a clay flue tile
    3

    A cap that fits

A stainless cap with mesh, sized to the flue, fitted firmly on top.

  4. Stainless steel chase cover capping a sided prefabricated chimney chase under clear sky
    4

    Chase covers too

Framed chimneys get a sloped metal cover that sheds rain instead of holding it.

Local know-how

Built for Cincinnati weather.

Cracked chimney crown holding ice in the split with meltwater staining the brick below

Freeze, thaw, repeat

Cincinnati winters swing above and below freezing again and again. Water in the brick and crown freezes, expands and opens the cracks a little wider every time.

Work light raking across thick dark creosote buildup inside a chimney flue

A long heating season

Fireplaces and stoves here run from October to April, so creosote builds faster than in milder places. A yearly sweep keeps it in check.

Eroded chimney mortar joints recessed behind the brick faces with loose sand and grit

Older brick, older mortar

Many neighborhoods here have brick homes from before the war. Mortar that old wears out joint by joint; repointing in time keeps the bricks themselves sound.

Reviews

What homeowners say.

Real homeowner reviews
“The whole process was really easy from start to finish. They showed up when they said they would, explained what they found, and didn't try to push anything I didn't need. The technician was friendly, professional, and left everything clean afterward. I'd definitely call them again.”

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Call (513) 655-6702
There's an animal in my chimney. What should I do?

Don't light a fire and keep the damper closed so it can't get into the house. Then call; the pro will tell you what's up there and how it comes out.

Are some birds protected?

Yes. Chimney swifts are protected by federal law, so an active swift nest can't be removed in nesting season. The pro will tell you what's allowed and when, and cap the chimney once they've gone.

Why do I need a chimney cap?

An open flue lets in rain, animals and leaves. A cap with mesh keeps them out and stops sparks from landing on the roof.

What's a chase cover?

The metal top on a framed (non-brick) chimney. Flat or rusted ones hold water and leak into the framing; a sloped stainless or galvanized cover sheds it.

How fast can someone come out?

Next-day appointments are available when you call or book today. Urgent jobs are called back first.

Is the inspection really free?

Yes, for a limited time. No cost and no obligation to book any repair.

What does the free inspection cover?

The firebox, damper, flue, crown, cap and flashing. Anything that needs attention is shown to you, and any repair is quoted in writing first.

Do I need a sweep or an inspection?

If you use the fireplace, a sweep: it includes a safety check while the flue is open. Buying or selling a home, or something looks wrong? Ask for an inspection.

Do you handle repairs too?

Yes. Leaks, flashing, cracked crowns, caps, animals and crumbling masonry. You get the price in writing before any repair starts.

Will it make a mess inside?

It shouldn't. The room is covered and a filtered vacuum runs at the firebox the whole time. If it isn't left the way it was found, tell us.

Can I pick my day?

Yes. Pick a day and an arrival window when you book online, or leave it and we'll find a time on the call.

Does booking cost anything?

No. Booking is free, and nothing is owed for asking.

What if it's urgent?

Call us. If there's smoke in the room or a carbon monoxide alarm, get everyone outside and call 911 first.

Who does the work?

A professional, trained local chimney company that covers your ZIP code.
